Sanibel Road Rally

Sanibel’s longest-running 4th of July event celebrates 38 years of fun for teams and families as they puzzle out the clues while following a prescribed driving course around the Island. Prizes will be awarded for time, mileage and for the most correct answers to the quiz about things seen along the route.  A “50/50” raffle will also be available. Fun for everyone!

1.  Choose your team (a driver, navigator and spotters are usual)
2.  Fill in the entry form (from Bailey’s General Store, Sanibel Cafe, or Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank (also available at the starting line)
3.  Mail it, together with entry fee of $40 to:

Entry Fee includes: Car, Driver, Navigator, Unlimited Crew, and 1 Official Road Rally T-Shirt (Additional T-Shirts will be available for $15.00).

This year the rally begins in Timbers Restaurant parking lot (only one-half block north of Bailey’s on Tarpon Bay Road) at 12 NOON, and also ends there for the “afterglow” party. Staggered starting times will be preassigned by the rally master.     Map

Sponsorships are available for tax-free donations of $100 or more. Each sponsor gets publicity and a placard on one of the rally vehicles. All proceeds from the rally provide funds for the local Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club’s college scholarships. We are pleased to announce the 38th year of this great Island tradition!

SO… Grab your sunglasses. Put on your driving gloves and prepare to have some fun!

Be a part of the team that puts our youth on the road to success! The Sanibel~Captiva Optimist Club is a local (island) service club dedicated to enhancing children’s education and lending necessary assistance within our community.


We have tiered Road Rally sponsorships consisting of four levels:

Lion Paw level of $500.00
Junonia level of $250.00
Conch level of $100.00
EVENT SPONSOR level of $1,000.00

The Event Sponsor, Lion Paw and Junonia levels will have your name and/or logo on our Road Rally T-shirts plus your name appearing in local papers and prominently displayed in one of our Road Rally cars! (For these levels please respond before June 20th.)

The Conch level will have your name appearing in local papers and your name prominently displayed in one of our Road Rally cars!

Any level of sponsorship puts you in the driver’s seat by providing for a child’s future!

We invite sponsors to provide us with items or information for our in-car goody bags. Each year we extend an invitation to you, members of the business community, co-workers, individuals, groups and families to join us in this longstanding and fun island event.

For those of you who don’t know about this annual July 4th island event, the Road Rally is a scavenger hunt for answers to clever questions…it is not a race…it is scored on following: instructions, time and mileage.

We provide you with the instructions, questions, detailed directions and you find the answers along the way. The route takes 2&1/4 hours give or take. Entrants are able to see the parade first.
